The flatiron is an iconic shape, and the restaurant inside looks like a speakeasy. The bar couches and outdoor patio might be the most Instagrammable spots in Culver City, and the live music doesn't hurt.
Chat over the Artisan Cheese Board. It's not much to chat about, just a plank with all the cheese groups. There's a nutty hard, a creamy brie, and a crumbly blue. A square of quince and a house-made fig jam are totally my jam, and the berries add some tartness. The crusty grilled bread is the best thing on this board, and they'll bring you extra as long you ask. We picked at this plate forever - appetizer AND dessert.
I rarely resist Hokkaido Scallops, and theirs are grilled plump and tender. The pork belly is red-roasted Chinese style, and the fat adds a little extra to the scallop. The sauce is overpowering though, and it's a smaller portion for the price.
The Pasta is in a lake of thick cream sauce and short rib ragu. The shredded beef is tender, and I don't recall the type of pasta, but I do love the texture of all those edges and curls.
You can't have a bad time here. It's all nice, though the food and drinks won't blow your mind or change your life. Not to worry, you'll enjoy yourself anyway, brunch or dinner, late night or lunch.
