This menu is overwhelming. An octopus has eight tentacles, but this novella has twice the number of pages. It's pretty comprehensive though hardly authentic, but it is a lot of fusion fun. If you're looking for generous portions of reasonably-priced sushi, you’ve come to the right place.
They have all the fishes, and their rolls check all the boxes. The Red Dragon is tuna on tuna, fresh on spicy with avocado and cucumber to make a roll we all know and love.
The Angry Tail is a good one, yellowtail and jalapeno over spicy tuna.
The Sashimi Roll has a little bit of everything, krabmeat instead of rice - karbs instead of carbs, and chunks of tuna, salmon, and albacore, a delightful hot mess.
The Caterpillar has more krabmeat - this one is a bit of a filler as it puts a squeeze on a delicate fresh water eel.
The carpaccios are great choices if you don't mind spending a little bit more. The Seared Garlic Tuna is tuna steak sliced thin soaked in yuzu citrus.
The Japanese Scallop is delicately tender, and though I don’t like mayo, this lychee mayo makes it work.
They even have a crispy Tatsuta Age Chicken with a pretty good batter and a decent balance between sesame and soy. It's a nice side if you're craving something fried, but it's not an item you need.
It's all about indulgence at Octopus. They serve all the good stuff, whether it's stacked in a roll or spread in a carpaccio. It's quantity with decent quality, but it's fusion so don’t come for omakase. I'd be more likely to come back for takeout, and I do think their rolls are best enjoyed with Neflix.
