SomiSomi Del Amo - Torrance

It tasted better in Hawaii. I hope the other locations are better. 

Matcha and ube swirl is a winner, but someone needs to learn to use the molds properly. Both of our taiyaki cones had sizeable holes/missing chunks, and the custard is spread thing rather than pumped in like a filling. I do love the texture of the cone, and overall it all tastes good enough, but this location has a rather disappointing quality.

EMC Seafood - Torrance

EMC Seafood. The M is for Mmmmkay...like the food is mmmmkaybecause it's good enough to make you say mmmm but not good enough to be better than just okay. 

They make some paper-thin Pork Belly soaked in ponzu. The garlic is nice, but it's pricey for tiny strips of glorified bacon. 

The Fries with truffle mushroom aioli need more flavor. It's fries topped with overpowering cheese. And you don't get much aioli though it's quite delicious. If only you could taste the truffle in it...

Uni Pasta. Because I have to. Very creamy sauce, 29 dollars for spaghetti and three pieces of uni. A bit whitewashed, TBH, like orange alfredo with a just a hint of the good stuff. 

Nothing offensive, many things expensive. I wouldn't return for lunch or dinner, but their dollar-fifty oysters might reel me in for a happy hour.
