Kensington Palace thankfully has a bag check, and our early afternoon train to the West Midlands gives us just enough time to explore this smaller castle.
There is no lack of fine detailing here, either, but I do think it's best to visit here before you view Buckingham.
They have a great exhibit on Queen Victoria and her brilliant reign, and there is more information about the Georgian and Stuart monarchs to enhance and reinforce what we picked up from Hampton Court. My favorite is the tribute to Princess Diana, a display of all her most famous and most iconic dresses.
Her stylists must have had a field day. Seeing the dresses up close confirmed just how tall she was, and everything fits her slender body like a dream. She wore that black off-the-shoulder number to dance with John Travolta. I bet no one noticed John.
It's a longer walk to the Underground, but it's a pleasing stroll through the park. Kensington is a simpler palace for sure, but it's a pretty one, and I recommend it if you like feeling close to the royals.
