Way out in Weymouth, on the WAY to Falmouth, a bit past Plymouth (GROAN), there lies a quaint Thai restaurant in a random shopping center next door to an equally quaint craft store. However, never judge a book by its cover and never judge a restaurant by its size or location. Lime Leaf is living proof that the little ones pack some punch.
Thai ice tea – it’s good, but isn’t all sugar-water with half a cup of milk?
Tofu Triangles – golden fried tofu – crispy on the outside, soft inside, with a sweet but light dipping sauce, ideal for whetting the appetite.
Drunken Noodle with tofu – perfectly stir-fried, with the right combination of soy sauce and one-glistening-tear-jerking spice. The veggies are crisp but thoroughly cooked, and the generous portion is enough to make you stuffed but not too much so that you have an awkward amount that is too much to throw away and not enough to take home.
Red Curry with tofu – My biggest pet peeve about Thai restaurants is that they charge you extra for a bowl of rice to go with your curry, disguising it as an “optional” side…but how the @)#(% do you eat curry without rice?!? If I haven’t totally succumbed to old age, I believe Lime Leaf includes the rice instead of charging you extra for the necessary “side item”. The creamy curry tastes amazing over the rice, and the generous helping of veggies round out a delicious dinner.
Not sure I’d give it 5 stars like so many yelpers have done – it’s great but not exceptional. However, Lime Leaf rounds out a solid 4 with reasonable prices, delicious dishes, and a dining experience that leaves you wanting more.
