Pop into Pops - Boston

If you’re walking through South End with your friends, looking for a place to eat dinner and nothing POPS up at you, why not go to Pops? This adorable restaurant has a trendy little bar in front and a dining area in the back that looks like a screen porch, perfect for a southern girl and her friends to have a gossipy, we-won’t-tell-anyone-how-much-you-ate meal. The outside sign is has cutely cheesy lettering, and like their sign, Pops is good with the cheese. The lobster and prosciutto mac n cheese had a generous amount of lobster…and two slices of prosciutto sticking out of it. I’m not one to complain about prosciutto, even if it resembles a random afterthought, and there is something to be said about making a rich dish not too rich to finish. Other than that, the chimichanga is a shared appetizer or a light meal, and the mariscada is nothing special. But the place has a pretty simplicity to it and the dining room is cozy but quiet enough to have real conversation. If you’re looking for a fun place for a random ladies night, Pops is the place to be.
