Mugimaru + Toritetsu - Torrance

In a talented food court like Mitsuwa, the choices can be overwhelming.

Mugimaru is worth a stop, and despite being a much
lesser-known noodle joint, their Spicy Tonkotsu Udon will give you pause. A slurpable sleeper hit, the cooked-to-order udon swims in a surprisingly rich broth with a spicy bite that leads to many more. There's a selection of tempura or yakitori if you wish. I haven't tried either - the udon alone is enough.

Opt for the Chicken Katsu Don if you’re still hungry. A classic katsu has a nice fry to it and the egg layer seals in the savor. A great bowl if you’re in the mood and one of the better places to get it warm and fresh.

There will always be oodles of noodles in Mitsuwa, and some are better than most. In the world of ramen, Santouka is king, but try the Mugimaru broth before you write them off.
