National Automobile Museum - Reno

Every city holds a certain charm, but you have to dig below the surface if you want to find something special. Reno does have a few gems, but I never expected anything like the National Automobile Museum. This one is a gold mine!

LA can't house a wonder like this. Reno has the luxury of space, and this museum is a sprawling 4 galleries of antique cars connected by wide open indoor streets. Even the streets are lined with cars, making this museum literally the most exciting parking lot in America.

Cars are often a reflection of their owners, and while some are just stunning works of working art, others are a show of talent, passion, and sometimes just whimsy. This attempt at a rocket by a physician with too much free time is a major fail-turned-fascinating.

Hey look, it's my new car. Gold Delaurean or bust when my Lexus breathes its last!

I can honestly say that this museum alone makes Reno worth visiting. The collection is as extensive as it is impressive, and a closer look reveals that the vast majority came from the Harrah's collection. A long, well-curated look at what drives a self-made millionaire? Well worth the drive to Reno.
