Half & Half Tea Express – San Gabriel

I drove 45 minutes to San Gabriel for dim sum, and I couldn’t read half the signs when I got there. (I can’t read Chinese.) But apparently that only put me halfway into Asian overload so we drove to Half & Half because two Halfs make a whole.

For starters, they’re cash only. VERY Asian. Even more Asian than authentic dim sum because even that place accepted a limited number of credit cards.

I had the classic Iced Milk Drink with Honey Boba. The milk and honey mix is rich and sweet, the tapioca boba are perfectly chewy, and they add some gelatinous stuff to thicken the mixture and break up the sugar rush. It’s perfect, and it’s absolutely awesome. Almost as awesome as being Asian. Just make sure you mix up the milk and honey before you sip or all the honey at the bottom will assault your senses faster than Asian vendors at a night market. Which is also awesome. Almost as awesome as boba.

If any experience you have isn’t Asian enough for you, be sure to stop by Half & Half. Five Asians consumed tall glasses of MILK drink without a single flare of lactose intolerance, and believe me there is no better proof that this authentic place can cater to anyone. So whether you’re Asian, think you’re Asian, or are as addicted to boba as an Asian, don’t hesitate to stop by Half & Half. It’s truly everyone’s cup of tea.
