We never go where Steinberg suggests, so this one was long overdue. Kalaveras has a kick-ass happy hour, and service is sensational.
Esquite is an entire sizzling skillet of street corn coated in garlic mayo, and it's impossible to stop eating.
Happy-hour Tacos are my happiness, with fluffy, fresh-made tortillas encasing meats and veggies alike. I'm curious about the veggies, but I wasn't about to miss my chance at the Chicharron. Gooey, fluffy pork belly with green salsa and pink onion to offset all that fat.
Drinks are also at a discount, and they make mezcal and mixes both smoky and sweet.
I’m SO there for the dessert, and Kalaveras takes pride in their Churro Sandwich. A legit churro donut-bun balances a giant glop of vanilla ice cream in the middle. Spread the sweet berry compote, and chomp to churro heaven, but don’t bother capping it with the other churro - no way this thing will fit in your mouth.
Be sure to catch their happy hour if you’re trying to chow down at Kalaveras. It’s a great deal on tasty tacos that are totally worth paying for.
